I’m Vincent Ge-Ming Lia Chong 莊志明, a queer mixed-race Chinese-American artist, Chinese calligrapher, seal engraver, printmaker, community organizer, and apparently a performance artist now.
Currently based in Brooklyn, New York, I work as a studio assistant at Harlan and Weaver and am excited to begin a year long residency for the 2019-2020 cycle at the Center for Book Arts.
Working and Living in New York City has given me many opportunities to learn about myself and others. I am grateful for my community of qtpoc siblings. They give me space and support to learn to love and care for myself, my community, and others.
Prior to living in New York City, I lived, worked, and studied in Taipei, Taiwan. During this two year period, I studied with 吳文勝老師 Wu Wensheng, a Chinese Calligraphy teacher who shared so much more than writing with me. I am eternally thankful for Wu laoshi’s generosity and 熱情.
Moving forward, I hope to learn as much as a can, sharing what I know along the way.
